Steel is more expensive than other materials typically used for fenestration, such as aluminium, uPVC,or timber. Steel windows & doors are also very labour intensive to manufacture in comparison with other window & door types. Significant plant, machinery and custom tooling are required for the proper fabrication of steel windows & doors. In addition, where other window & door types have become automated in manufacture, steel frames are still hand crafted using traditional techniques and specialty knowledge. Steel windows and doors may initually look like an expensive option but unlike all other products it is a one time only cost. Steel windows do not need to be replaced or serviced, once they are installed they will look perfect for the life of your building.

However at Steel Design we understand the requirement for reducing our costs to enable savings to be passed onto you, the customer. Steel Design internal company systems and enhanced manufacturing efficiencies have been implemented for provision to supply the absolute best quality product at the best possible price. This now allows within most budgets the specification of Steel Design's unique handcrafted steel frames in place of more common mass produced fenestration types.

Steel Design is doing more than any other company to enable the easy and cost effective specification of quality steel windows and doors. Developed are 3 main cost options for your consideration when incorporating/specifying Steel Design windows & doors.

Option 1 - Standard Range: Steel Design have an extensive range of standard products which can be individually installed or coupled together on-site, to create literally thousands of design options. This rage has been developed to offer the most efficient and cost effective option. If you appreciate the characteristics of steel frame windows and doors but would rather not pay the premiums associated with customisation, then this option is for you.

Option 2 - Standard Range design with custom sizes: The next most cost effective option is to choose standard designs from the product range but specify your custom sizes.

Option: 3 - Custom Design: This is where Steel Design manufacture from shop drawings based on your architects window and door schedule, detailing your custom requirements. This option requires cost premiums associated with one off detailing and custom manufacture and should only be considered when the standard range designs do not suit your particular requirements.
